American Bankers Association: 10 Sites in 11 Months, Delivered by a Team of Four

The American Bankers Association needed to move its microsite portfolio off legacy Sitecore XP without a big-bang replatform. A Kajoo.ai microsite factory made it possible, and made each new launch 7x faster.

The challenge

ABA is the largest banking trade association in the United States, representing nearly 4,500 member banks. Its digital portfolio covers membership microsites, campaign hubs, and event sub-brands, and all of them ran on a tightly coupled Sitecore XP MVC stack.

The platform was stable but slow. Every new microsite needed a full development cycle, and launches routinely took three to four months. With no shared component library, every property started from scratch. Every front-end change required back-end work, so marketing waited on the development queue for every campaign.

A big-bang replatform wasn't an option. ABA had live properties in production and couldn't afford months of feature freeze. It needed a path to headless that was incremental, low-risk, and faster from the first phase.

How Kajoo.ai delivered

Prove the foundation on one site

The program opened with the essentials: an XM Cloud instance, a shared component library, a CI/CD pipeline, and a content model. The first microsite went live at the end of that phase, proving the architecture before ABA committed to scaling it.

Turn legacy content into headless-ready code

Kajoo.ai agents ingested ABA's legacy MVC content structures and generated headless-ready component schemas and migration scripts. Work that would normally take days took hours.

Run every new site through the factory

From site two onward, Kajoo.ai became the delivery engine. It automated site scaffolding, component reuse mapping, content migration, and QA, cutting the time to launch each site from weeks to days. A four-person team operated with the throughput of twelve, and every new property landed on the same shared instance with no added infrastructure cost.

Give marketing back its speed

With the front end decoupled from the CMS, content editors now launch campaigns and pages using the shared component library, and developers stay focused on the platform itself. Neither team waits on the other. Landing pages that used to take weeks now go live in hours.

Results

  • 10 sites on one platform. All 10 microsite brands run on a single Sitecore headless instance, with one component library, one content model, and one training process.
  • $500K saved. That's measured against a comparable engagement delivered by a traditional agency at scale, and the Kajoo.ai factory was the primary driver.
  • 7x faster time to market. Once the factory was running, each new site launched seven times faster than ABA's pre-engagement baseline.
  • Legacy debt retired. The MVC stack has been retired across every migrated property, and deployments are now automated.

What's next

The factory proved the model, and ABA is now scoping the migration of its flagship site, ABA.com, onto the same platform.

“We went from a multi-year roadmap to launching 10 sites in under a year.”
